I’ve always considered wine to be a miracle of the natural world. Wine can be created wherever grapes have been gathered and stored in a vessel – I find this fascinating. I love the fact that the wines I make today could theoretically have been made thousands of years ago.

ZARIA wines are made from handpicked fruit and are fermented naturally through wild fermentation. Minimal intervention in the winery gives the wine a level of authenticity missing in a lot of today’s commercial wineries.

We are lucky in Hawke’s Bay as most years our grapes have everything required to make stunning wine. Enough sweetness, enough acidity, enough flavour. We don’t need to add anything else!
