The original ZARIA wine was made by the winemaker as a gift to celebrate his own goddess of beauty and was comprised of three cases of Rosé from the 2011 vintage.

The back label read as follows:

“Z A R I A – The goddess of beauty in Slavic mythology. ZARIA Rosé embodies all that is pure and feminine in a wine. ZARIA was produced by the winemaker as a gift to be celebrated by his own goddess of beauty.
ZARIA – For Alena”

This hand-crafted gift of ZARIA wine must have worked in my favour as my marriage proposal at Pacifica Restaurant in the weeks that followed was a dream result.

Five years on and Pacifica in Napier, New Zealand’s Restaurant of the Year at the 2017 Cuisine Good Food Awards, currently has ZARIA wines pouring by the glass.
