Winemakers Notes:
The contrast between the 2023 and 2024 harvests couldn’t be starker. 2023 was very wet and cool where 2024 was very warm and dry. However, what we gained in quality we lost in volume. Whilst not ideal for us, the wine drinker (you) will get to enjoy some phenomenal wines. At least until they all run out!
Our 2024 Rosé consists of 55% Malbec and 45% Merlot and was harvested in pristine condition in early March. The grapes were pressed off skins as soon as possible to keep colour extraction to a minimum. The juice was fermented at around 14 degrees C to help retain all the fine aromatics present in the wine. The wine is dry at just 1.6g/L residual sugar.
Super aromatic flavours of cherry, watermelon and smoker lollies bound from the glass. The palate is soft and vibrant showing ripe strawberries and melon flavours with a lovely length right across the palate. Our rosé has grown and grown in recent years and is fast becoming one of New Zealand’s “go-to” rosé’s for the wine drinker seeking a classy dry rose that delights all the senses.
